Chapter Report to State Council
June 6th OB for the ER nurse presentation with good turnout, dinner sponsored by Kaiser. Sponsored dinner planned for ER nurses day October 9th.
Happy Nurses Week! Sacramento chapter has a meeting June 6th with a CE speaker on OB Emergencies, Kaiser is providing dinner and hosting us at their campus in Roseville. We are in the planning stages of an event for Emergency Nurses Week in October.
Sacramento Chapter Cal ENA January 2019 Report Sacramento chapter has been planning a great year of education. Our first meeting of 2019 will be in February with Mary Gannon speaking about volunteering in disasters and Jen Denno speaking about healthcare advocacy. In April we are planning an education symposium led by our Education Chair, Liz Clifton. It will be a full day of great lectures, food, and vendors. We will have other education events in the months without state or national meetings.
Sacramento Chapter, California ENA November Report Sacramento chapter had delegates attend the National Convention in September. We completed our chapter elections and have a new Board: President: Mariann Cosby President-Elect: Mary Gannon Treasurer: Andrea Perry Secretary: Jen Denno We also have the following Chairpersons: Paula Green, EMS; Liz Clifton, Education. We are planning a holiday dinner get-together in December.
Our last meeting was held July 31st at Adventist Health Lodi Memorial Hospital where we had an ED physician presentation on aggressive resuscitation based on the latest evidence based practice. August 29th will be our next meeting at Sutter Gateway Oaks Conference Center where we will be discussing the General Assembly Resolutions, Bylaw amendments and CEN Jeopardy. We have put out a call for candidates for 2019 Chapter Officers with the plan to complete elections by the end of September.
Sacramento Chapter is purchasing a $500 brick for the new building recognition and State Challenge support of ENA Foundation. Our next chapter meeting will be at Sutter Roseville Medical Center and will be a presentation on Active Shooter and Stop the Bleed Training on May 23, 2018 at 1800.
December we held our annual Christmas dinner gathering at the Tower Cafe with white elephant gifts. We had and interesting discussion concerning the various nursing programs available for BS to MSN. We are planning an Education Event for 2018, more to follow.
Since we last met at State Council the Sacramento Chapter has been busy! We held a CEN review course in Roseville through Solheim Enterprises. As anticipated we received great reviews from the participants. In addition we had an education event in October with topics on Caring for the Autistic and Body Modification. Our December meeting will again be a celebration held at Tower Café on December 13. We welcome our 2018 board, Sandy Piedra President, Mary Gannon President-Elect, Shante Brown Secretary, and Andrea Perry Treasurer.
We have a CEN review course coming up August 30-31 by Solheim at Sutter Roseville Hospital in Roseville CA. Back by popular demand, we had a Chapter meeting and education event July 12 in Drug Trends and Concentrated Marijuana.
We held our first education session and business meeting on February 8 in Sacramento. Our topic was on caring for the VAD patients in ED. The event was well attended and all attendees received 1 CE. Our next event will be April 5 on the topic of Emergency treatment of Congenital Heart Disease.
Sacramento sent six delegates to General Assembly and Mark Denno was faculty for the National conference, speaking about ventilators for ED nurses.
